Noor – The Master of the Game

Noor - The Master of the Game.

Between the Aravallis and Vindhyas, in the deep gorges and the lofty terrain, flanked by dried vegetation, stay an ambush of tigers that could beat any huntsman thumbs down.

It is these forests of Ranthambore, that showed the world master huntsman and strategists. If Genghis strategized the cornering technique by pushing prey to the lakes and hunting them down as they tried to escape the crocodiles, Noon hunted at mid-day in the lake area. Padmini once hunted Blue bull that was feasted on by 9 tigers incl. Nick Ear, Akbar, Lakshmi, Padmini and a few cubs, all of them taking turns and well aware of one another.

Tigresses are master huntsman, as they have more stomachs to feed. The cubs not only feed from the mother's kills but they learn her techniques too. Hardly a day passes by, when you are in Ranthambore, and you don't hear of a kill by the Sultanpur female.

The tigress killed a large male boar, a couple of days ago, and even before the kill was complete, she tried to hunt a Sambhar deer, that failed though as she lost her cover too early. However, the next day, the tigress hunted down a spotted deer's fawn.

Noor, the daughter of the old Sultanpur tigress (T-13) hails from the legendary Sr. Machli aka Lady of the Lakes. (Lady of Lakes > T14 > T13 > T39).

Noor has carved a special name for herself with her bold behaviour and her unparalleled motherly care and upbringing.

While the very bold and dominant Sultan (T-72) was a part of her first litter from the very popular Ustad (T-24), her second litter (T-88, T-89) were at danger after Ustad's relocation (on man-eating charges) and the presence of the magnificent T-57 (Singhst) but successfully reared by step-father Singhst. The third litter is fathered by Singhst, and the girls are the apple of their eyes, looked after well by both the mother and father, alike.
