Divine Ratio

Divine Ratio

It is hypothesized, argued and proven in nature, that many animate and inanimate things follow divine ratio – for ex. arrangement of a pinecone, leaves on the stem, the curl of an elephant’s trunk, feathers of a peacock.

How is Divine Ratio or Golden Ratio derived?

Golden ratio is obtained when the ratio of two quantities is same as the ratio of sum to the larger of the two quantities.

fn = fn-1 + fn-2

In quadratic form, (if Φ is the golden ratio viz., a/b) then the above algebraic equation becomes,

a b a/b
2 3 1.5
3 5 1.667
5 8 1.6
8 13 1.625
13 21 1.615
21 34 1.619
34 55 1.618

and the solution to the equation is represented by the Greek symbol Φ (phi), divine ratio is an irrational number whose value is 1.618033…
