Ichi-go, Ichi-e
In a ‘change-is-essence-of-life’ world where the universe is evolving, quantum realities, dimensional perspectives and environmental variables are changing, and technology is unimaginably shaping lives, the ‘moment’ is becoming arcane.
Primordial soup or infinite chaos, moments always subsist and moments have impeccable grandeur and the elegance yet the frailty of gossamer. But human life, with sequences and consequences, orderliness or disorderliness, preparedness or unpreparedness, deludes us from the ‘moment’ over which we have dominion.
In Japanese culture, Ichi-go, Ichi-e is an abstraction of treasuring the unrepeatable nature of a moment in this world of precepts, memories and associations.
Who is Sanjeev Siva ?
Sanjeev Siva embarked on his photographic journey by shooting miniature / die-cast cars. Trained in the aspect of spatial perception and reasoning by his academic degree in Civil Engineering, and having a fondness for spatial imagination, he started to experiment with the perspectives of Automobiles and Structures.
He has a penchant for art and architecture, patterns and perspectives, and comics and cartoons, that pushed him deeper into the realm of nature where he became engrossed with the intricate designs. He surmises that all these forms are connected by visualization of the mind; nature is the biggest canvas and the capacity to visualize stems in the mind's eye.
While he started off as an experimenter – not conforming to traditional rules, he now mostly adheres to them. He strongly believes that photography is an extension of the many schools of painting and sculpturing, the aesthetics of which have been tried and tested to please the human eye.
He loves to photograph a variety of subjects from something as momentarily intricate such as birds and animals, landscapes, and even street to something as perpetual as architecture and automobiles.
His primary area of interest remains Big Cat and Wildlife Photography which helped him evolve, and involve with his subjects; he views photography and wildlife tourism as one of the cornerstones of conservation. Though not a qualified conservationist, he reads extensively about conservation and preservation of wildlife, striving to educate and bring awareness among people.
A proponent of harmonious cohabitation of both humans and wild animals, he loves to interact with people about Conservation, teach them and learn from them. One of his goals is to educate the rural populace and help the urban audience inculcate an interest in wildlife. He opines that photography along with powerful storytelling will help him achieve his goal.
